A leading single off of their forthcoming second album innerspace, boywithahalo’s newest release of “collide” finds a mixture of lo-fi beats and unique vocals to create a sound like no other.

“collide” began for boywithahalo over seven years ago as a project with basic software and unfinished vocals. Still encapsulating it’s modest beginnings once released, the track finds a home in discomfort and dissonance. Sinking into the quick thrum of a drum kit, “collide” immediately immerses the listener into a haunting and tentative sonic landscape. As modified synths find a home with boywithahalo’s unusual vocals, “collide” explores the dark corners of the mind.

As the song progresses forward, listeners can find new sounds lost to the distance, emotive lyricism, and consistent forward movement before a sudden drop off to end the song. Inspired by the likes of The xx, “collide” truly captures the essence of modern day bedroom pop rock sound that pushes the genre forward and is a must listen from boywithahalo.
