Growing through adversity is a struggle faced in many aspects, and in Lauren Walton’s newest single “Hardwired”, we find the singer not only growing through adversity but also in spite of it. This track explores the discussion of generational trauma and growth, as one’s upbringing absolutely shapes the person they become, for better or for worse.

Exploring her own youth, Walton’s chorus attributes her strength to her mother and her regret to her father, connecting both positively and negatively to the way she was parented. Lauren also discusses the way she has adapted in response, offering a lilting voice with soft caresses of shaky hands juxtaposed with powerful belts of her own desires to hold strong no matter the challenge she faces. “Hardwired” is at its core a powerful and reverent view of Walton’s own strengths and flaws as she has grown into an adult, with her words simultaneously cutting deep and offering a bandage to help soothe the wound.
